Big News!
I have some really exciting news to share! The season two finale is less than a week away and we can’t let this occasion pass without a celebration! Last year, we had an incredible watch party at The Berry Farm and we were able to raise enough money that night to fund our agricultural training program for orphaned and at-risk teens in Zimbabwe for the entire year thanks to the generosity of all of you!
When Dave and I first agreed to film a pilot episode for HGTV in 2017, we did so as an act of faith – ultimately hoping that someone would watch and want to learn more about our non-profit work and partnership with John and Orpah Chinyowa in Zimbabwe. Coincidentally, we found out that the pilot was green-lit while we were in South Africa as a family, just after returning from a visit to Zimbabwe. During that visit, the seed for The Gatehouse Program funded by the Berry Farm was planted while sitting around Pastor John and Orpah’s dinner table.
So, our work with Fixer to Fabulous is inextricably tied to our work with Help One Now in Zimbabwe.
I absolutely hate that we aren’t able to gather in person this year, but it’s still important to us to celebrate and further the work being done by Help One Now. Which is why the Season Two Finale is going to be a virtual celebration that will raise funds to launch the Family Empowerment program in Zimbabwe. Dave and I are passionate about that fact that no parent should ever have to choose whether or not they can afford to care for their children. Family Empowerment offers proven solutions to help families lift themselves out of poverty and into lives of opportunity. Most importantly, Family Empowerment keeps struggling families together.
- To date, Help One Now has enrolled over 750 families in the Family Empowerment Program around the world with an average increased income of approximately 642%. Many of these families now have 2-3 years of self-sufficiency under their belt and are using their profits to pour back into the community, creating more jobs and in turn empowering even more families.
- Every $1,000 sends another family through the program, and every dollar counts!
Our goal is to raise enough to send 50 families through the Family Empowerment program in 2021!
This is a HUGE goal but I know this community of ours is so incredibly generous and I believe that together we can do this! We can make a change in the world for GOOD.
